Workshop in Vienna: Supporting Civil Society Organisations in the field of sustainable consumption and production

Logo_Action-TownThe Action Town Support Workshop will take place on February, 1st-2nd in Vienna, Austria. This event, which has been jointly organized by the Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP), the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the Sustainable Europe Research Institute (SERI), represents an important step for the Action Town project: by bringing together new partner CSOs with experts in the field of policy instruments, assessment tools and indicators, it will be a unique opportunity to foster knowledge transfer between CSOs and researchers.

The workshop aims to support CSOs’ activities in their effort to use policy instruments, assessment tools and indicators on SCP more efficiently to promote sustainable lifestyles in European countries. Four CSO projects will be particularly in the focus:

  • * TTGV (Turkey): Actions towards the encouragement of the development of SCP Policies in Turkey among relevant stakeholders: An LCA approach for sustainable housing
  • * ECODES (Spain): Indicators for Sustainability in Financial Products
  • * Green Liberty (Latvia): Participatory SCP policy assessment
  • * MAMA-86 (Ukraine): Development of an SCP policy in Ukraine

Additionally, the workshop aims to bring new insights to research, e.g. by getting feedback on the three manuals for CSOs on policy instruments, assessment tools and indicators (which can be read here), by suggesting areas where CSOs may be able to contribute to further research, and by identifying more possibilities and options for research to support CSOs, based on a deeper understanding about the information needed by CSOs from research.
